I often post the websites that the children will be using in school.  It is a way that I can be sure that all of the children access the correct website when we are in class as they access it through our classroom website.

Math websites that are fun!

Book Tea
We will be having our first “book tea” next Friday, February 12th.
At our book tea we will be enjoying yummy drinks and sharing with
each other some of the wonderful books we have been reading during independent reading time.

We will each need to prepare for the book tea. Below is a list of literature activities that you can choose from. You need to complete just one activity. You will share the product that you create.

The book you base your literature activity/product on must be one that you have listed in your reading journal and read this school year.  It must be one that you read on your own (not one that I read to you or we read in group).  You need to pick just one book so pick your favorite!

Literature Activity Choices:
  • Diorama- Create a 3-d scene from the story and be prepared to tell us about it.
  • Expression- Read an exciting part of the story with expression!  Record it and try and add background sounds too.  Share it with us.
  • Letter- Write a letter to the class. Tell us about the book (don’t give away the ending), and why we would like to read the book. Tell us what was interesting, and give us tips on reading the book. Read the letter to us.
  • Bag it- Find 10 things from around your house that are important to the story.  Put them in a bag that you have decorated with either a scene from the story or important characters.  (Example- for Harry Potter you could find a toy owl).  Tell us how each object relates to the story.
  • Mobile- create a mobile to show the characters, setting, problem (s) and solutions, and changes.  Share your mobile with us.
You must use things from around your house.  Do not ask your parents to go and buy anything- be CREATIVE and enjoy!!!!!
