Eighth Grade Home and Career Skills students embark on a journey—a journey that begins during Home and Career Skills and ends sometime during their adult life. The success of their journey depends on each individual and the decisions he/she makes. |
This journey takes students through discovering who they are, what the world of work is all about, which types of careers are right for each of them and how to get hired in those careers. |
Students may run into some pitfalls along the way, that’s normal. It’s how they handle them that will determine the success of their journey. They will also learn some strategies along the way that will improve their chances of success. |
Each student will be an active participant along the way otherwise the journey will be wasted. Participation involves discovery in the form of reading, class discussion, writing and homework. As with any trip that one takes, appropriate behavior is expected, otherwise they will not be welcomed back to that destination. |
