Junior Year



1. How to choose a career:

-       What are your interests?
-       How important is money?
-       How many hours do you want to work?
-       Is it a growing or shrinking career?



2. How to choose a college:

-       Do you want to attend a large school? Small?
-       Co-ed campus?
-       How competitive?
-       Sports?
-       How far away from home?



3. Fill out the Critical Data Sheet:

-       Use the Internet Web Sites provided
-       Narrow down your college choices



4. Fill out the College Comparison Worksheet:

-       Continue to use the internet
-       Meet with college reps visiting the guidance office, use sample questions from “What Do I Want To Know About Colleges?” sheet
-       Narrow down colleges you would like to visit

5. Campus Visits:

-       Call to schedule a campus tour prior to May
-       Arrange for an interview if it is required
-       Use your “How To Visit A College Campus Checklist”
-       Get an application



6. Register for the SAT and/or ACT

-       Sign up for the April, May, or June test date

-       www.actstudent.org



7. Teacher Recommendations:

-       Ask 3 teachers, beginning in April
-       Forms available in the guidance office



8. NCAA Forms:

-       www.ncaaclearinghouse.net
-       College athletes may be required to complete these forms, speak to your coach or the college coach
-       Check for date to be filed, usually spring of 11th or fall of 12th grade year
