        Beginning the month of October, a band instrument will be "featured" each month. Every 5th grade band student will have an assignment for that instrument to complete. Gathered information will then be shared by one another at the end of the month during band rehearsal time.
        There will be an envelope posted on the band bulletin board to "hand in" information. A chart will be kept on the band bulletin board with a sticker next to the name of each member as assignments are turned in. This way a tally can be kept of who is turning information in and who is not. It is a goal of the band for everyone to have a stamp by his or her name on the chart by the end of each month.
        You will be given the whole month to find information about the featured instrument. However, please do not wait until the last minute, as this should not be a rushed assignment. You may turn in information any time during the month. Please see me about any questions. The calendar listed on this webpage informs of when assignments are due.

2. List the three main registers of the clarinet.
3. What fingering system is used for the French style of clarinet?
        What other instrument uses that system?
4. Write down any other information you found that you thought was interesting and would like to share with our band.
        Don't forget to write where you found that information.


On a piece of paper write down the answers to the questions above about the clarinet. Make sure your name is on your paper. Do not simply print out information you find. The due date for Jefferson and Mariaville is Wednesday, May 21st. The due date for Woestina is Thursday, May 22nd.
