Schalmont Middle School Morning Announcements




June 18, 2009 - Today is an 'A' Day

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:  Spring has arrived and the weather is getting warmer.  We are asking that all students be dressed appropriately for school.  School policies are covered on page 11 of the Student Handbook under the heading 'Personal Appearance'.  It can also be found on page 2 of the Code of Conduct under 'Dress Code'.  Students are not to wear spaghetti straps of tank tops, midriff shirts or shorts or miniskirts of an in appropriate length.  Pants should also be of an appropriate length and pulled up so that no undergarments are exposed.  Middle School staff will direct students whose clothing is considered a distraction to change.  Thank you for your support.

Final Exams:  Friday, June 19 - Science; Monday, June 22 - Math;  Tuesday - June 23 - Social Studies;
Wednesday, June 24 - English.  All students will be excused at 10:00 a.m. after each final exam.

Modified Track Team Members:  Your modified letters have arrived.  Please stop by Mr. Brandt's Room 122 to get your participation letter that goes along with your award certificate.  If you have not turned in your uniform, please bring that with you so you can get your letter and certificate.

6th and 7th Grade Girls:  If you are interested in playing Modified Volleyball next fall, see Ms. Muzio for try-out dates and information.

8th Grade Football Players:  The weight lifting sessions will be two days a week.  8th graders will lift on Mondays and Thursdays only in the high school weight room.

Yearbooks are in!  There are some extra books, so students who would like to purchase a book may do so before homeroom between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. in room 201.  They will be $28.00 - cash only.

Any current 6th or 7th grade boy interested in trying out for Modified Soccer should sign up during your lunch period with Mr. Anderson.

Anyone who has unused or gently used school supplies, please bring them to Mrs. Bryson's Room 124.  These supplies will be donated next year to others in need.  Thank you, NJHS.

ATTENTION all students with inhalers in the Nurse's Office:  Please pick them up this week before finals.

ATTENTION any Modified Softball Player who has not received a certificate yet, please see Ms. Muzio.

The Middle School Library will be offering the option for students to take out up to five books over the summer.  Summer loans begin June 15.  See Mrs. Fasano or Mrs. Caputo for details.

Looking for community service hours this summer and want to do something to help homeless animals in your community?  Come learn about different opportunities available for middle and high school kids on  Wednesday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m. Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia.  Call 374-3944, ext. 119, if you plan on attending and for more information.  Check APF out at www.animalprotective.org.
