Schalmont Middle School Morning Announcements

May 13, 2008 - Today is Day D

Drama Club Workshop:  Will meet on Tuesday, May 13, in the Library after school.

Sabre Service Club:  Is making cards for a local marine troop leaving for Iraq at the end of May.  We need your help.  We are hoping to have 80 more cards by Friday, May 16.  Construction paper folded in half with a nice message such as "Thank you for your bravery" will be fine.  Please make a card and turn it into the Guidance Office by Friday, May 16.

Band students going to NYSSMA should check the bulletin board outside the band room for a recent schedule for NYSSMA coaching with Mr. Eiser.

The City Mission of Schenectady is in need of many items as the economy continues to down turn.  The students in the Business Department in the High School are collecting personal items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.) for the Mission.  After reviewing the movie, Pay it Forward, for a section on character education, we have decided to help others by collecting these items.  If you have any extra products at your home (we are especially interested in the sample sizes), please bring them to school and give them to any business student or to Mrs. Haringa in the High School.  Mike Saccocio (a graduate of Schalmont and a  member of our Wall of Distinction) will be coming in on May 13 to talk to the classes about giving back to the Community and helping others.  Thank you for your support.

If you are currently in 8th grade and want to try out for the JV Boys Soccer team in the fall, you must attend a meeting in the High School Library on Tuesday, May 13, at 2:30 p.m.   If you have any questions or cannot make the meeting on Tuesday, May 13, please see Mr. Brandt.

Intramural Football will be held today, Tuesday, May 13.  We will meet in the MS gym after school.

Do you like popcorn and soda?  Has it been a while since you've soon a movie?  Support the National Kidney Foundation and enjoy a movie, popcorn and soda for only $2.00 each.  Seventy-five percent of the profits go directly to the local Kidney Foundation.  Regal Theater at Colonie Center on Wednesday, May 14, is the place to be for the $2.00 deal.

The Modified Baseball Team plays at home tonight against Lansingburgh at 4:00 p.m.  If Schalmont wins, they will be in first place.  Come out and support your Sabres.
