March 12, 2010 - Today is an 'D' Day

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!  A note from the Nurse - Please remember to wash your hands frequently, cover your cough - stay at home with illness and wear a coat as it is getting colder outside!  ATTENTION PARENTS!  If your child is absent from school, please call the Nurse's Office ext. 2062 or the Guidance Office ext. 2001 and let us know why your child is not in.   THANK YOU!

A book was returned to the school library that belongs to the Schenectady Public Library - Rotterdam Branch.  Please come to the library and claim the book..

Math Club:  Will meet after school Tuesday, March 16, for some problem solving and a round of KRYPTO.

Current National Junior Honor Society Members:  Please bring you green shirt to school with you to wear for our picture Monday, March 15.  We will meet in Room 104 Monday at 12:15 p.m.

Do you have a bunch of books or even one book at home that you don't want any more?  Donate your gently used children's or young adult books for a special sale in the Library in March.  They must be in GOOD condition.  Bring them in any time during school hours to Mrs. Fasano in the Library before Tuesday, march 23.

A REMINDER to all 7th and 8th grade students who are Modified Track participants:  Please bring in your health form to the nurse and your permission slip to Mr. DiCocco as soon as possible.

All boys trying out for Modified Baseball should bring a hat, glove and sweatpants to school on your tryout day.  Check Mr. Libertucci's door for your tryout day and be sure to get your paperwork to Mrs. Mortensen.

If you are interested in helping out at Literacy Night, which is on Thursday, March 25, in the evening, please see Mrs. Fasano for details.  The second organizational meeting will be held after school in the Library on Monday, March 15.  If you have already signed up or are going to sign up to help but did not attend last Monday's meeting, you must attend this Monday's meeting.   See Mrs. Fasano if you absolutely cannot make the meeting.

Drama Club Workshop:  Will meet on Tuesday, March 16, in the Library after school.  New members are welcome.
Attention any 7th and 8th grade girl interested in trying out for Modified Softball!  Sign up with Ms. Muzio during your Physical Education class.

ATTENTION 6th, 7th and 8th grade Chorus and Band Members:  If you plan to perform at the "Song Share Relaxed Recital" on Thursday, March 25,  please sign up on the sheet on the music room door.  You may perform alone or with a group.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Toma.

The High School weight room will be closed to Middle School students until further notice.

ATTENTION all 7th and 8th Graders:  Project A.I.M. has begun for the year and the High School Juniors and Seniors are eager to help you every Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:1`5 p.m. in cafeteria B for help with any homework, CRs or projects you have.  This group will be here for HELP every Tuesday!

ATTENTION 8th grade girls interested in trying out for volleyball next year:  There will be a meeting afterschool on Monday, March 15, in Room 104.  See Ms. Muzio if you have any questions.

ATTENTION 8th Grade Volleyball Players:  Weight Room workouts have started.  Improve your serve and strengthen your spike every Tuesday and Friday afterschool in the Middle School fitness Room.  See Ms. Muzio if you have any questions.

The American Red Cross will be sponsoring two training classes for babysitters on Saturday, March 20 or May 15, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30, YWCA, 44 Washington Avenue, Schenectady.  flyers available in the Guidance Office.

Find out how you can go to summer camp next summer for free!  Schenectady Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club is seeking candidates to sponsor for week-long camperships in the summer of 2010 at DEC's  conservation camps.  To find out more information and how to apply, see Mrs. Lasky or the brochure in the Guidance Office.

Alfred University is offering a residential summer English Equestrian Camp for riders aged 14 - 17 along with two day camps in Western and English riding for campers aged 8 - 16.  For more information about this program, visit  their website at www.alfred.edu/summer.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will be inviting a total of 50 New York Capital Region students who will be entering the 6th, 7th and 8th grades in the fall of 2010, to attend a two-week residential program to take place on the RPI campus from June 13 through June 25, 2010.  If you are interested, applications are in the Guidance Office.  Application deadline is April 16, 2010.
